OxygenOS 16 puts artificial intelligence at the heart of the user experience. The new Mind Space (Plus Mind) acts as a unified digital hub where users can save everything they see links, screenshots, voice notes, and more. With Google Gemini integration, the OS doesn’t just store this data it understands it. Gemini offers intelligent context-aware suggestions, automatically organises information, and can even take action based on saved content.
The AI Writer Toolkit is another standout feature, assisting users in writing, editing, and creating content effortlessly. It can generate smart captions for social media, create structured tables, design mind maps, or rephrase and summarise text in different tones making it perfect for professionals and creators alike.
Meanwhile, the new AI Recorder Assistant transforms voice recordings into neatly formatted transcriptions with timestamps and speaker identification. It can also generate concise summaries, saving hours of manual work. The AI Scan feature turns the phone’s camera into a professional document scanner, automatically straightening pages and removing glare for a polished, ready-to-share look.
In the Gallery app, AI also enhances creativity with tools like AI Portrait Glow for low-light photos and AI Perfect Shot, which intelligently fixes blinking eyes or imperfect expressions by referencing earlier captures.
Design and Customisation: “Breathe with You” Aesthetic
Visually, OxygenOS 16 introduces a striking “Liquid Glass” design language. The system UI now uses Gaussian blur effects for a modern, fluid aesthetic across the home screen, app drawer, and Photos app. A new Translucent Floating Bar replaces the traditional bottom navigation in select apps, offering an elegant, seamless feel.
Customisation takes centre stage with Flux Theme 2.0, allowing users to set motion photos or videos as live wallpapers. Lock screens can now display mini widgets, glanceable info, and a range of new large clock styles. The home screen supports a 5×7 grid layout, resizable app icons, and redesigned folders with multiple layouts giving users complete creative freedom. The redesigned app drawer now includes a bottom search bar and intelligent categorisation of apps for faster access.
Performance and Ecosystem: Ultra-Smooth and Connected
OxygenOS 16 pushes performance to new levels with Enhanced Parallel Processing 2.0 and Flow Motion animations, ensuring zero lag even during extended multitasking sessions. On tablets, the Open Canvas feature allows up to five apps on screen simultaneously a dream for power users.
Cross-platform connectivity has also improved dramatically. PC Connect enables wireless file transfers, screen mirroring, and remote control on both Mac and Windows.
