A San Francisco-based startup company known as AgentMail has raised $6 million in a seed funding round to develop an email platform for AI agents. The investors in the round are General Catalyst, Y Combinator, Phosphor Capital, and many other renowned angel investors.
In the last two years, AI agents have shifted from being basic chatbots to highly advanced tools capable of performing complex activities. Today, many software developers are using AI agents to debug their codes, manage their calendars, implement their marketing plans, and perform many more activities.Experts believe that in the near future, AI agents may become as common on the internet as humans.
To achieve this, AgentMail is building an email platform for AI agents, enabling them to have their very own email inboxes. Through their platform, developers can use an API to set up an email account for their agents, enabling them to send, receive, search, and organize emails using features like threading, labeling, and auto-response.
As per AgentMail’s co-founder and CEO, Haakam Aujla, AgentMail works in a similar manner as email services such as Gmail or Outlook, but instead of relying on buttons, AI agents interact with the inbox through API calls, which allows the process to be faster and easier for AI systems.
The startup was a part of the Y Combinator Summer 2025 batch, having gained tens of thousands of human users, as well as hundreds of thousands of AI agents, along with more than 500 business customers.
To ensure this service does not get used for any potential malfunctions, AgentMail allows new AI inboxes to receive only 10 emails per day, while also keeping track of suspicious activity. AgentMail thinks this service will allow AI agents to interact more easily with online services across the internet.
