Apple has revealed that its App Store ecosystem generated more than $1.4 trillion in developer billings and sales during 2025. The announcement comes just before the company’s annual Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC), where Apple is expected to unveil new software and artificial intelligence features.

The $1.4 trillion figure represents all economic activity connected to apps on the App Store, including digital purchases, physical goods, services, and advertising. This marks an increase from the $1.3 trillion reported for 2024, showing continued growth across the platform.

A key point highlighted by Apple is that developers did not pay commissions on around 90% of these transactions. According to the company, most of the revenue came from physical goods and services, which generated approximately $1.1 trillion. These include sectors such as online shopping, grocery delivery, ride-hailing, travel bookings, and food services.

Digital goods and services contributed $149 billion in sales and billings during 2025, up from $131 billion the previous year. Apple typically earns commissions ranging from 15% to 30% on these transactions, depending on the type of purchase and the size of the developer.

Advertising revenue generated through apps reached $151 billion, slightly higher than the $150 billion reported in 2024. Apple also stated that the App Store attracted more than 850 million average weekly users across 175 countries and regions.

Artificial intelligence apps emerged as a major growth area, with 40 of the top 100 apps featuring consumer AI tools. Apple also noted strong App Store growth in China, the United States, and Europe, where sales and billings have increased significantly over the past six years.
