Apple is reportedly preparing to expand its smart-home product lineup with a new home hub scheduled for October 13. According to Bloomberg News, the device will mark Apple’s major entry into the smart-home display market, competing with products from Amazon and Google.
The upcoming device, code-named J490, is expected to feature a six-inch square display. It will reportedly be available in two versions, including a wall-mounted model and a countertop version.
Apple Smart Home Hub: Expected Features
The new Apple smart-home hub is expected to connect different smart-home devices and provide personalized experiences for household members.
According to Bloomberg News, the device will recognize individual family members and display personalized content based on their accounts and data.
The hub is expected to support Apple’s growing artificial intelligence capabilities, including improvements to Siri.
The launch is part of Apple’s broader effort to expand beyond its popular iPhone business and strengthen its smart-home ecosystem.
Apple HomePod Mini and Apple TV Updates
Alongside the new hub, Apple is reportedly planning to introduce an updated HomePod mini and a new Apple TV set-top box.
The HomePod mini, originally launched in 2020, is expected to receive its first major update. Apple TV will also receive its first new version since 2022.
According to the report, both products will retain their existing designs but feature faster processors to support more advanced Siri AI models.
Apple Focuses on AI and Smart Home Products
Apple has been working to improve its artificial intelligence capabilities following delays in its Siri upgrade.
In June 2026, the company unveiled a major Siri overhaul as part of its broader AI development plans.
Apple’s hardware strategy is also receiving attention following John Ternus taking over as CEO earlier this month. Analysts expect his leadership to place greater emphasis on Apple’s hardware engineering and AI integration.
