Google Rolls Out Powerful Agentic AI Shopping Upgrades: Smarter Search, Store Calls, and Automated Checkout

Google is redefining the online shopping experience with a new set of Agentic AI–powered features that make browsing, comparing, and buying products faster and more intuitive than ever. Instead of traditional keyword-based search, these upgrades allow the AI to understand natural language, take real-world actions like calling stores, and even complete purchases when your desired price is reached. Together, these enhancements mark one of Google’s biggest steps toward fully automated, assistant-driven shopping.

The first major upgrade is Conversational Shopping in AI Mode, which lets users describe what they want using everyday language. Shoppers no longer need perfect search terms; instead, they can provide vague or descriptive prompts such as “Help me find a cozy sweater for a fall trip that goes well with both jeans and dresses.” Google’s AI interprets the context, considers factors like weather and outfit versatility, and generates intelligently organized results. These include rich visuals, prices, reviews, and availability.

For more complex shopping decisions, the AI can generate automatic comparison tables, showing side-by-side differences in ingredients, features, reviewer insights, and benefits ideal for choosing between skincare products, electronics, or clothing items.

A second breakthrough feature is Agentic Calling, which removes the hassle of phoning local stores. When users search for products “near me,” Google now shows a “Let Google Call” button for eligible categories such as electronics, toys, beauty, and health products. Google’s AI, powered by an enhanced Duplex and Gemini model, makes a real call to nearby retailers, identifies itself as an automated system, and asks about stock levels, pricing, and promotions. Shoppers then receive a detailed summary via text or email, along with additional local inventory pulled from Google’s Shopping Graph.

The third upgrade is Agentic Checkout, which transforms Google’s price-tracking tool into a fully automated buying assistant. Users can set a preferred size, color, and target price, and once the product drops into the selected budget range, Google sends an alert with a “Buy for me” option. After a quick confirmation, the AI completes the purchase through Google Pay. This feature is rolling out across select merchants including Wayfair, Chewy, Quince, and Shopify sellers.

Lastly, Google has integrated all these powerful tools directly into the Gemini app, allowing users to brainstorm gift ideas, compare items, and explore shoppable results in a single conversational interface. These updates collectively mark a major leap toward a future where shopping becomes fully AI-assisted, effortless, and personalized.
