Meta has announced a price increase for its popular virtual reality headsets, including the Meta Quest 3 and Meta Quest 3S, due to the global rise in memory chip costs.

Starting April 19, the Meta Quest 3S (128GB) will cost $349.99, while the 256GB version will be priced at $449.99. Both models have increased by $50. The Meta Quest 3 sees a bigger jump, with its price rising by $100 to $599.99. These changes reflect the growing cost of producing high-performance VR hardware.

In its official statement, Meta explained that the main reason behind this move is the increasing price of RAM and other important components. The company said, “The global surge in the price of critical components specifically memory chips is impacting almost every category of consumer electronics, including VR.” This means companies are spending more to build devices, which is now being passed on to customers.

The updated prices will also apply to refurbished Meta Quest devices. However, Meta confirmed that accessories such as controllers and add-ons will remain at their current prices, which is good news for existing users.

Meta is not alone in this situation. Other major tech companies like Samsung, Microsoft, and Sony have also raised hardware prices recently due to the same RAM shortage.

This trend shows how global supply issues are affecting the tech industry and consumers alike.
