Nvidia is expanding its push into artificial intelligence infrastructure with a minority investment in Cloverleaf Infrastructure, a U.S.-based data center developer. The companies announced the investment on Friday as demand for AI computing continues to drive the need for more data center capacity.
The financial details of the Nvidia investment were not disclosed. However, The Wall Street Journal reported that Nvidia could invest several hundred million dollars in Cloverleaf, citing people familiar with the deal.
Nvidia Supports AI Data Center Expansion
Cloverleaf Infrastructure works with utilities, energy companies and investors to develop data center sites. Its focus is securing the power and infrastructure needed to support large-scale AI computing facilities.
The company said it has delivered several gigawatt-scale projects across North America since it was founded in 2024.
Under the new partnership, Nvidia will support Cloverleaf’s infrastructure development for AI data centers. Cloverleaf will also use Nvidia’s DSX platform to improve decisions involving site selection, power supply, cooling systems and computing infrastructure.
The partnership highlights the growing importance of power and infrastructure in the AI industry. Advanced AI models require large amounts of computing power, which has increased demand for data centers with reliable electricity, advanced cooling and high-performance chips.
Nvidia Expands Data Center Investments
The Cloverleaf deal comes just days after Nvidia announced another major investment in SB Energy, a data center developer owned by SoftBank.
Nvidia said it would invest $1.5 billion in SB Energy as part of a data center agreement involving OpenAI. The latest Cloverleaf investment shows that Nvidia is increasingly looking beyond its traditional chip business to support the wider AI infrastructure ecosystem.
By investing in companies that develop data center sites and secure power, Nvidia can help address some of the biggest challenges facing the rapidly growing AI industry.
AI Infrastructure Demand Keeps Growing
The expansion of AI services from technology companies is creating strong demand for new data centers across the United States. Nvidia’s investment in Cloverleaf could help accelerate the development of these facilities and improve the infrastructure needed to run future AI systems.
The deal also strengthens Nvidia’s position across the AI supply chain, from computing hardware to the infrastructure required to operate large AI data centers.
