Chinese autonomous driving company Pony.ai is rapidly expanding its robotaxi business beyond China, with its planned and potential overseas deployment pipeline now exceeding 4,000 vehicles. The development highlights the company’s growing focus on commercial autonomous mobility and international expansion.
Pony.ai reported strong second-quarter 2026 results, with total revenue reaching $36.2 million, up 68.8% year over year. Robotaxi services were a major growth driver, generating $12.1 million, an increase of 691.2% from the same period last year. Robotaxi revenue also accounted for more than one-third of the company’s total revenue for the first time.
Passenger fare revenue recorded an even stronger increase, rising 849.3% year over year as Pony.ai expanded its Gen-7 robotaxi fleet and increased operational coverage.
The company had 1,975 active robotaxis as of June 30, 2026, and remains on track to deploy more than 3,500 vehicles by the end of the year. Its overseas pipeline includes more than 4,000 planned or potential vehicles, demonstrating the increasing scale of its international strategy.
Pony.ai has been expanding through partnerships with transportation and automotive companies. Its earlier 2026 strategy targeted deployment across more than 20 cities globally, while partnerships with companies including Toyota, BAIC and GAC are supporting vehicle production and overseas deployment.
Pony.ai CEO and Chairman James Peng said the company would continue advancing its full-year plans and expressed confidence in exceeding its full-year robotaxi services revenue target. In its earlier Q1 statement, Peng said Pony.ai expected to finish 2026 with more than 3,500 robotaxis across over 20 cities worldwide.
The company’s progress suggests robotaxis are becoming an increasingly important part of Pony.ai’s business. With rising passenger demand, lower-cost Gen-7 vehicles and international partnerships, Pony.ai is positioning itself as a major player in the global autonomous ride-hailing market.
