Proton has launched a major update for its privacy-focused AI chatbot, Lumo 2.0, introducing faster performance, image capabilities, and smarter features while maintaining its strong focus on user privacy.
The latest version allows users to upload images for analysis and editing. It can also generate new images from text prompts, bringing Lumo in line with other popular AI chatbots. These new features make it more useful for both personal and professional tasks.
Lumo 2.0 also improves Projects, a feature that lets users work with documents, emails, and cloud storage through Proton’s ecosystem. Projects now include user-controlled persistent memory, allowing the chatbot to remember user preferences across different conversations. This helps provide more personalized and efficient responses over time.

According to Proton, Lumo 2.0 responds up to 76% faster than the previous version. It also introduces a new Thinking Mode, designed to handle complex questions and more advanced problem-solving tasks with greater accuracy.
One of Lumo’s biggest strengths remains its commitment to privacy. Proton uses zero-access encryption, ensuring that only users can access their data. The company says it does not store conversation logs, use customer data to train AI models, or share user information with third parties.
Lumo 2.0 delivers a chatbot experience similar to leading AI assistants while giving users stronger privacy protections. The update is available immediately through a free version, while Plus and Professional subscription plans offer additional features, higher usage limits, and more resources for users who need advanced AI capabilities.
