The Apple Company is set to begin its next phase under its CEO Tim Cook who plans to retire at a time when he has been at the helm of affairs for almost 15 years. As reported by Apple on April 20, 2026, Cook will hand over his CEO job to John Ternus from September 1, 2026.
Tim Cook will not quit Apple but will serve as the Executive Chairman of the board. During his leadership tenure, Cook made sure that Apple reached a market cap of around $4 trillion, turning it into a global giant.
John Ternus, who served as one of the Apple leaders for many years, will succeed Tim Cook as the new CEO. In 2001, he became an Apple employee, where he worked hard to enhance Apple’s product design and helped Apple migrate to silicon processors for its hardware products.
Sundar Pichai congratulated,”Congrats on an incredible run @tim_cook, always respected your deep commitment to Apple’s mission and best wishes in your new role!,“
At the same time, Sundar Pichai, the CEO of Google, offered encouraging words to Cook and extended a warm welcome to Ternus. This shows the intense yet healthy competition that exists between the two companies.
There will be other leadership changes in the company. Johny Srouji will be promoted to the position of Chief Hardware Officer.
This leadership change occurs at a vital time for Apple as it aims to focus on expanding its artificial intelligence capabilities and making advances in hardware technology.
