The company YouTube is hiking the cost of subscription in the United States for YouTube Premium and YouTube Music.
YouTube Premium single subscription price will be increased from $13.99 to $15.99. YouTube Premium family subscription costs will hike from $22.99 to $26.99 monthly.

In addition, YouTube Premium Lite (a cheaper subscription where users can remove ads in almost all videos but not in songs) cost will be hiked from $7.99 to $8.99 monthly.
Moreover, the price of YouTube Music single subscription will increase by one dollar making the subscription price at $11.99 per month while the family subscription price will increase from $16.99 to $18.99 monthly.
Google, the parent company of YouTube announced that these increases will apply to all existing users as well as future users. Existing customers will receive an email thirty days before the implementation of new prices.
The company mentioned that the price increase is required to maintain quality and help artists and creators. Moreover, customers will continue to enjoy perks such as ad free videos, background play and massive music library.
This isn’t the first time prices have been increased. In 2023, YouTube Premium raised its monthly subscription fee from $11.99 to $13.99, and YouTube Music followed suit by raising its prices as well.
According to YouTube, it currently boasts over 125 million subscribers in both the Premium and Music categories.
The price raises can be attributed to other streaming services doing the same thing lately. This includes Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, and Spotify.
Generally, users might have to spend a little extra money, but they can rest assured that YouTube will maintain its quality service.
